In daily life, some people suffer from Renal Insufficiency and some medicines can supplement nutrition to them, so the pharmacist can recommend the medicine to the patients when they go to the medicine store for consultation.Due to different personal condition, the supplements may differ. If you need the personal supplements list for renal insufficiency, you can email to kidneyask@hotmail.com for an answer!
Compound vitamin B and folic acid
Compound vitamin B is a sort of fine and inexpensive medicine and it means far more than just several necessary nutrients for patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency. Compound vitamin B mainly contains the following B group vitamins: vitamin B1, B2, B3 (nicotinic acid) and B6. The renal insufficiency patients always take diuretics (such as furosemide), which will result in the massive loss of vitamin B1, so they should supplement vitamin B. And vitamin B can ease high homocysteine, prevent and control the occlusive vascular disease. Taking vitamin B together with folic acid will make the effect more distinct.
Amino acid and ketone acid
Amino acid includes nitrogen element which can produce various nitrogen substances through metabolism. Under normal circumstances, these nitrogen substances will be expelled out of the body, but if the renal function is insufficient, the nitrogen substances will deposit in the body and cause many other symptoms. Ketone acid does not includes nitrogen, but it can combine the free amino and convert it into useful amino acid which will participate in the compounding of protein. In other words, ketone acid can compound useful essential amino-acid with wasted nitrogen in the body and with a strict control of the intake of protein in the diet, the increase of nitrogen level can be well controlled.
Calcium carbonate
Calcium plays a multiple therapeutic role in the treatment of chronic renal insufficiency patients. Firstly, calcium salt is a kind of phosphorus binders and it can reduce the absorption of phosphorus in intestinal tract, which can reduce the blood phosphorus and prevent renal bone diseases caused by increased blood phosphorus. Secondly, taking orally calcium agentia can make up the insufficiency of calcium under low-protein diet and keep blood calcium normal under the circumstance that the absorption of calcium is poor. The calcium agentia can also ease metabolic acidosis commonly occur among patients with kidney disease to some extent and improve the situation.
Activated vitamin D

Patients with Renal Insufficiency lack of the hydroxylase of activated vitamin D, so even the vitamin D which they absorb from diets is not less, they still lack of vitamin D, which will lead to the insufficient absorption of calcium in intestines, poor mineralization of bone and low blood calcium level. So, the patients need to supplement enough active vitamin D.
